JAL president rejects calls for his resignation

Calls by dint of several board members for his resignation has been throw overboarded by the president of Japan Airlines Corp (JAL), Toshiyuki Shinmachi.
Shinmachi said that his main responsibility is in regaining confidence in the airline after a series of safety lapses. The board members reportedly asked Shinmachi and couple other executives to step down to take responsibility for the poor performance, additionally presenting the president with a petition from 50 senior officials of the JAL assign places to who also called for him to resign.
The JAL president said that he alone intends to make the final decision regarding his position, The Associated Pres reported.
