Frankfurt Airport in Germany, Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France said that they would be able to accommodate flights that were thwarted from landing at Heathrow.
a certain number of disruption has also been reported at other UK airports, with delays of 1-2 hours at Birmingham and around 30 departures and 19 arriving flights cancelled at Stansted. Meanwhile authorities at Glasgow airport said that no other than people with tickets were allowed inside the terminal building.
With the increased security measures introduced today, passengers forward flights departing from any airport in the UK will not be permitted to carry any hand baggage excluding for essential items.
Passengers will be hand-searched at the airport and footwear and items including pushchairs and walking aids must be sieveed by X-ray.
No liquids will be allowed to be taken onward aircraft, except for essential medicines. Milk for babies will also be allowed unless it must be tasted by dint of the accompanying passenger, BAA said.
